“You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.” William Faulkner
This resonates deeply with me today…my recurring nightmare is one of being suspended above water, hanging on desperately despite being able to see the shore while being savagely attacked from above…all the while KNOWING that all I have to do is LET GO and get a little wet to reach the safety of the shore.
What are you clinging to that no longer serves you?
We all know the why…fear. Fear of economic insecurity, fear of letting people down, fear of failure…fear, fear, fear…
FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL
My choice today is to take action…one foot in front of the other…obeying my heart and my calling. I can’t worry about the outcome…I just know that doing the next right thing will be the key.
What is the next right thing?
1) HALT: Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired.
a. Eat healthy food
b. Let go of resentment (write, meditate, exercise, gratitude list – You do you, Boo – Whatever works)
c. Connect in meaningful ways to loved ones or be of service
d. Naps are spiritual – rest when you’re tired. How could your improved attitude hurt anyone?
2) Stop procrastinating – Put down that device and do at least 1 thing today to serve your higher purpose or move toward your goal.
a. Be intentional about how you spend your time if only for a few minutes at a time.
b. Practice being the new version of yourself. (if you don’t like it you can always change back).
c. Even one baby step at a time will improve well-being by adding to your feeling of accomplishment.
3) Know you are not alone…a lot of us struggle with “terminal uniqueness” (if “you don’t understand” is a frequent phrase in your world, you have T.U.) because what happens in our head is usually top-secret information.
a. Find your tribe – connect with like-minded souls through altruism (volunteerism, service to others).
b. Develop a Dream Team, Circle of Soul Sisters or Band of Badass Brothers from Another Mother – they can be your “Fair Witnesses”, your champions and your truth tellers.
Above all, be kind to yourself today. Trust the process and know that your journey is yours…
Comparison is the thief of joy (Theodore Roosevelt) and any time we spend observing and judging what we perceive about others is a waste of time because we are merely comparing our INSIDES to their OUTSIDES and we will lose every time.
I believe in you and your greatness. Have the courage to let go and swim. It isn’t as far, as hard or as cold as it seems. I’m already in the water and it’s just fine…
Love to you all, Frannie
P.S. The Great Quarantine of 2020 is a perfect time to connect by phone or video conference. I am here to be of service during these very odd times. Drop me a line and we can make time to connect – no strings attached – really…I am here to help.
